Coverage

Coverage for a growing, high-income city

Home values and incomes run high in Austin, so the amount of coverage matters as much as the type. Tap any card for the full Austin-friendly guide.

Indexed Universal Life Insurance involves fees and is subject to carrier terms. Cash value growth is tied to a market index but is not a direct market investment. Actual results vary. Not a bank deposit. Not FDIC insured. Not offered in California, Iowa or Minnesota.

Fixed annuities are insurance contracts subject to carrier terms and state availability. Withdrawals before age 59½ may incur tax penalties. Surrender charges may apply during the contract period. Not a bank deposit. Not FDIC insured. Not offered in California, Iowa or Minnesota.

This is a supplemental insurance policy. It is not a substitute for comprehensive major medical health insurance and does not provide Medicare or Medicaid benefits. Benefits are limited to those stated in the policy.

By life stage

Where Austin households usually start

Building a company

Founders and partners

If a founder or key engineer dies, a young company can stall. Key person coverage pays the business, and life insurance can fund a buy-sell agreement between partners.

Working in tech

Professionals with group life at work

Group life at work is often a set multiple of salary and may end when you change jobs. A policy you own stays with you from one employer to the next.

Buying a home

New homeowners

With home values this high, a mortgage can outlast a single income. Coverage sized to the loan helps your family keep the house.

Renting for now

Renters and young couples

More than half of Austin homes are rented. Life insurance protects the people who rely on your paycheck, whether or not you own a home.

Planning ahead

Pre-retirees

Plan retirement income, protect savings from market drops, and set aside coverage for end-of-life bills.

A common Austin question

I already have life insurance through work. Is that enough?

For most Austin families, work coverage alone falls short. Group life is usually a set multiple of salary, and it can end when you leave the job. I compare what your family would need with what work provides, then look at a policy you own to cover the gap.

Questions

Austin coverage questions

Do you have an office in Austin?

No. Golden Years Protection is based in Fort Worth, and I work with Austin families by phone or video, so there is no office to visit. Call 682-254-1786 and you work with me from start to finish.

How much life insurance do I need with an Austin mortgage?

Start with the mortgage balance, then add other debts, several years of income and final expenses. Subtract savings and any coverage you already have. With home values as high as they are in Austin, many families find group life at work covers only part of that number.

Does my startup need key person insurance?

If the company depends on one or two people to keep running, raise money or close deals, key person coverage is worth a look. It pays the business if that person dies. Investors and lenders sometimes ask about it. Bring your attorney and CPA in for the legal and tax side.

Can a high earner get coverage in the millions?

Often, yes. Seven-figure term coverage is possible for many applicants, based on income, health and need. The insurance company looks at what your income replaces. I help you size it and walk through underwriting by phone or video.

Term or whole life: which suits an Austin professional?

Term life runs for a fixed stretch, often 10, 20 or 30 years, and pays only if you die within it. Whole life stays in place for your whole life while the policy is in force, and it grows cash value. Plenty of Austin households pair the two.

Are you licensed in Texas?

Yes. I am a licensed insurance agent in Texas and 39 other states, NPN 21207986. My hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM, Central time. Closed weekends. You can reach out online anytime.
